Most reputed of all is The Middletown City School which is educating more than 6,800 students in its preschool and kindergarten classes, 10 elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. The district serves an area of 23 square miles in southwestern Ohio, midway between the cities of Cincinnati and Dayton in the northeast corner of Butler County.

The Butler County Educational Service Center (BCESC) oversees all the school districts and one career-technology school in the county, serving over 56,000 students altogether.
